A conjunction is when two planets meet in the same spot of the sky. Saturn, the planet of commitment and slow results, met Neptune, the planet of dreams and ideals, on Feb 20, 2026 at 11:52 a.m. US Eastern, at 0°45’ Aries, the very start of the zodiac. Here is what that meeting started and what it may mean for you now.
Saturn stands for structure, rules and the results that take years. Neptune adds imagination and kindness, and it can make a hope look like a fact. Each time they meet, a new 36-year round begins that ties dreams to daily effort. The ideals people put real work into may start to take shape, and the ones kept only as wishes may fade. Aries is the sign of courage, fresh starts and doing things your own way, and this meeting landed in its first degree, which makes it a meeting about beginnings. In 1989 the two planets met three times, in March, June and November, because of their backward periods.
The meeting itself comes about every 36 years. The spot is the rare part. This was their first meeting in Aries since 1703, and none of their meetings in nearly 5,000 years fell inside the first degree of Aries. The closest earlier one, in 1742 BCE, landed just before it, at the very end of Pisces. You’ll also see “once in 9,000 years” online, which is a rough guess.
It often marks a time when people test their ideals against real life. At its best, a long-held dream gets a plan, a budget and people willing to do the work. Both planets are moving backward right now, which astrologers call retrograde. Saturn turns forward, or direct, on December 10, 2026, and Neptune turns direct on December 12 at 1°36’ Aries. They drift back to about 6 degrees apart in December and then separate for good. By mid-2027 they are about 18 degrees apart. Saturn moves backward again from August 9 to December 23, 2027, and leaves Aries on April 12, 2028.
In June 2061, about 20 degrees into Gemini, the sign of talk, ideas and learning. Halfway through the round, in 2042 and 2043, the two planets sit opposite each other, with Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Taurus. Astrologers often read that stretch as a check-in on what this 2026 meeting started, a point to ask what has lasted.
